SHI Frequently Asked Interior Design Questions

Is SHI a full service design studio?

SHI is not currently set up to offer full service design. We do not have the bandwidth to manage construction or renovation projects, however, we help make materials selections and create tools for your contractor to reference.

Does SHI offer 3D design services?

Yes! 3D visuals for kitchen and bath designs are built in collaboration with external designers. If this is something you’re interested in exploring, we are happy to get a quote.

Who purchases the furniture/decor – SHI or client?

We can discuss possibilities for SHI to handle the procurement of items, or alternatively, the client can take charge of the purchases.

Does SHI offer discounts on furniture/decor?

This is not something SHI shares with clients. Each trader partner operates differently. Some provide the designer with a commission, some offer varying discounts and others don’t offer any discounts. This is kept between the designer and the trade partner.

At what point in the process should I hire a designer?

The sooner you can bring a designer into the process the better. We usually see clients start making purchases then they get overwhelmed and aren’t sure how to pull the space together. SHI’s design process takes a holistic approach and every detail should be made with a vision/mood board as a guide.

What is the average timeline to design a space?

There are many variables that can affect a design timeline such as construction, how decisive the client is during the process, and lead-times. We say to plan for 4-6 months, however, if we are working on a new construction I’d plan for 12+ months.

Does SHI have an office space?

Since Kelly splits her time between Denver and Pagosa Springs and services clients in both areas, SHI is remote. In-person design consultations take place on-site, at a local coffee shop, or virtually.

Does SHI do a final reveal?

We do not do an official “reveal” as seen on HGTV. However, once a client has received all furniture/decor; they have the option to book a half day or full day styling session.
